Russia’s vegetable oil exports to Turkey may start in June

MOSCOW, May 5 (PRIME) -- Russia may begin exports of vegetable oil to Turkey no earlier than June, if it starts to sign contracts soon, CEO of the Russian Union of Oils and Fats Mikhail Maltsev told PRIME on Friday.

“Physical exports may start no earlier than in June on condition that the contracts are struck soon,” he said.

He added that no official documents have been published yet, making the signing of contracts impossible.

On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin said following negotiations with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the countries have agreed to abolish all mutual trade restrictions, except for imports of tomatoes and a visa-free regime. On Thursday, Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said his country has lifted restrictions on imports of wheat from Russia.
